What is Bureau?

Bureau is a shared office, coworking and meeting space in Wellington at Level 1, 158 The Terrace. To become a coworking member, you can sign up online for day passes or flexible, affordable month-to-month plans. You'll get same day access using your smartphone as a key. Booking our casual meeting rooms without being a member is easy.

We want to help you achieve the freedom to work whenever you want in spaces that work for you. ​

Where is it?

Our shared office and meeting space is in Wellington on Level 1, 158 The Terrace.

We run the booking and payment system for Maranui Surf Lifesaving Club's meeting room and conference facility in Lyall Bay near Wellington Airport.
You can book by the day, and get catering from the folks behind the celebrated Maranui Cafe.

How much does it cost?

Member plans & pricing here. In a nutshell, all members enjoy smartphone access to the shared office via a smartphone key for as little as $69 per month + GST. Day Passes are $29 + GST

The Meeting Room is $39 per hour + GST for the public. You book and pay online and receive instant confirmation. It takes about a minute, and you'll have a login to make future bookings even easier. Find out more here.

Members can use the Meeting Room for free when it's not already booked. Dedicated Desk members can book the Meeting Room for $5 + GST per hour, and Flexi members can book it for $10 + GST per hour. Members have the freedom to change or cancel their bookings.

Maranui Surf Lifesaving Club Meeting Room is $499 + GST/day.

How do I join or buy day passes?

You can join online. It takes about one minute. Learn about day passes and buy them here. You’ll receive same day access to the shared office via your smartphone.

What facilities and services do you provide?

A shared office and meeting space with a self-catering kitchen, lobby, outdoor area and other common spaces.

​Shared office members and day pass users enjoy access to the shared office, fast reliable Wi-Fi, free tea and coffee, free printing and free use of the common lobby, self-catering kitchen, outdoor area and bathrooms.
A shower and a bicycle rack is available.

Members choose between the flexibility of hotdesk memberships, or the certainty of a Dedicated Desk. Plans offer month-to-month or six-monthly terms.

The meeting room is free for members to use when it's not booked.

Our plans are per person. All prices exclude GST. ​

What facilities and services don't you provide?

We don't have a reception desk or on-site staff. ​We don't curate social or networking opportunities. You can't use Bureau as your company's registered address. You can get mail and courier packages delivered but you'll have to be there to receive it. There is no mailbox or anyone to sign for things.

We want to make it easy for you to work in a professional workspace environment that combines simplicity with exceptional taste and comfort.

Can I get a permanent desk at Bureau?

Usually, yes. We have a limited number of dedicated desk memberships available on month-to-month or six monthly terms. Book a tour, or check availability by calling 04 889 0157.

When I turn up to hotdesk, will there definitely be a free desk?

Most likely. Like gyms or libraries, our members don't use Bureau all the time, but there are peak times. Our Dedicated plan gives you the certainty of your own permanent desk in the shared office.

Can you work full time on flexi (hotdesk) plans?


Can I meet people at Bureau and bring guests?

Yes. You’re welcome to take meetings in the meeting room, to entertain people in Bureau’s social areas, and to show them the shared office. We ask that only members work in the shared office and coworking space.

Who do I speak to to resolve an issue in the space?

Please contact us and we'll resolve it as fast as we can. Our workspaces are video monitored.

Do you offer free trials or tours?


A free trial is the best way to learn if Bureau is right for you.
Or you can just sign up and start using Bureau. If you join then change your mind, you can cancel within seven days and get a full refund.

Can I store stuff at Bureau?

If you want to leave stuff overnight on a permanent or regular basis, you'll need a Dedicated membership.

If you're hotdesking, you can leave your stuff on the desk/workstation and step out for around half an hour. After that, it’s fine for people to pop it tidily on a shelf for you.
Secure electronic lockers are available for free. After 24 hours have elapsed, they automatically re-open.
