Q: How can Bureau offer the best coworking space in Wellington at the lowest prices?
A: Because of Kisi.
Bureau is the first company to incorporate Kisi’s groundbreaking cloud-based access control technology into a New Zealand business - allowing our day pass users and members to access our flexible shared office using their smartphone as a key.
Day pass users and members download the Kisi app to their smartphone - it’s available for free through App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android. Kisi’s cloud access control system is integrated with our online booking and membership platform.
Simply sign up online for a day pass or a monthly membership, and you’re good to go. Whether you’re a 24/7 member or a weekend warrior, Kisi knows who you are and when you’re allowed to be in there. It lets you into the coworking office with a swipe. Our 24/7 cameras monitor co office space comings and goings for safety and additional security.
Bureau can offer the best coworking space in Wellington at the best price because Kisi frees you from having to pay for someone to issue expensive keytags and open the door for you. It’s that simple.
We’re proud to announce that Bureau is now an Ambassador and Reseller for US-based Kisi Cloud Access Control System. That means we can install Kisi in your office or shared space and advise you on how to make the most of it too.
If working from home is not working for you, or you’re in an office that could benefit from an automated cloud access system, come try Kisi at Bureau.
To celebrate national coworking day, we're looking back to look to the future. Bureau Workspaces began when a writer, a furniture designer and a management consultant walked into a cafe: We had nowhere else to meet. Now we’ve got a shared office and meeting space on the Terrace. And you can come too! Here’s how it all began...
The writer hated working from home. Who could have guessed that the cheapest, most convenient option could be so deeply unsatisfying?
The furniture designer was working from his workshop - which makes sense until you try to do your GST in a swirl of delivery boxes, sawdust and power tools.
The consultant had work/life separation, but when working from client sites, he'd sometimes get squeezed into makeshift nooks and crannies that weren't ideal for doing great work.
We were all living the future of work. We’d consciously uncoupled from conventional jobs and conventional workspaces. But freedom’s just another word for nowhere to sit. The future of work wasn’t quite working for us.
Working from home can make a nice change - but it’s not a great idea to make it into a habit. It’s isolating, and unhealthy. It makes routines difficult and interruptions a given. Seriously, how many times can you open the fridge in a day? For people who manage a busy business involving a shop floor or a kitchen, it’s great to have somewhere else to go to take care of the back end. For independent contractors, having your own workspace helps give you the independence that you went out on your own for.
Libraries and cafes are OK for short term tasks - but they’re cunningly designed to be small and bustling because they literally do not want you there all day. Meeting potential clients in bars and cafes isn’t always ideal.
These insights set cofounder Arthur Meek off on a round-the-world odyssey investigating the future of workspaces by looking at coworking operations in NZ, the UK and throughout the US.
What he found was that there's room for different kinds of coworking spaces for different people's needs, but that too many spaces are targeted at the same crowd. Young, loud and startup-y. Or corporate types trying to look young, loud and startup-y. Perfect for those who like that kind of thing. A non-starter for those who don't. There wasn't much around for people who wanted something simple, beautiful and efficient. Something that just works, so you can just get on with your work.
So Bureau was born. Beautiful, simple, comfortable and affordable.
We're a comfortable shared office and meeting space in Wellington. We're all about creating and celebrating productive environments where it's nice to spend your time.
